Government employee. I’m working. I think no one will be in and so it’s a silly day to burn vacation if I don’t need to.

DC-based nonprofit: we are closed on the 5th.

A surprise announcement.

An easy way to thank staff and build morale. Having said that, it would be more strategic to build those extra days off into the annual schedule so HR can promote them when recruiting. Similarly, knowing those extra days up front helps with retention.

Yes, in office. I'm not spending a vacation day on a day that will be easy and give me some time to catch up.

Working. A lot of people will be out so I’ll use it to tackle tasks that need attention but aren’t high priority. Basically cleaning up my to do list.

I’m a Police dispatcher.
I work the 4th ( holiday pay, yay) but I’m off the 5th/6th/7th.

On a side note, please don’t call the Police about fireworks. Educate yourself about the difference between a gunshot and a firework. If you don’t know, google is your friend.

+1 hopefully it will be a light day - summer holiday Friday and all

My kids both have camp, including one who has a therapeutic camp so not interested in missing it. A majority of the people I work with are international.

So yes, I am working like a normal day.

Will take our kids out on July 4 for a day trip. And we go on vacation in a couple of weeks to Europe so kind of happy to not get too behind before we go.

Office is open, but guess a lot of people will be on PTO.

Local government and I will be working. I’m also taking that as one of mandated in office days for the week because traffic will be light and I don’t expect many people to be in the office. It’s pointless but I don’t want to burn that day of leave when I will be in town and won’t really be doing anything at work.

Summer camp is open and my youngest's daycare will be open.

My office will be dead empty, so probably will work that day and not burn the vacation day.
