Kid has a headache, takes Motrin? Yes, fine to go out.
Kid has a 102 fever, runny nose, pretty sick, but fever breaks with Motrin? No, stay home
Up here. More like number 2, not super sick, acting like normal self but runny nose and low grade temperature that's better with Motrin
Under 100 and nose is not a faucet kid would be in school. So bbq is fine. Especially since outside.
Nonsense. You arent supposed to sebd a feverish child to school.

But as someone else pointed out, the school/doctor definition of "fever" is no longer around 99. It's 100.4+.
Who has a thermometer that's accurate that decimal place?

if they will be inside dont go.
fever in and of itself is only dangerous if your child seems unlike their normal self, however it is a sign of contagion. If the child seems fine and you can ensure they wont be inside with others i would not be concerned.
“Likely” not spread the fever isn’t a help at all to someone who can’t get whatever is driving that fever due to immunosuppression, “doc”
Kids aren’t always great about washing their hands, or not using their sleeves to wipe their runny noses, touching things, spreading germs in general. Given, a lot of adults aren’t good at those things either but there is no reason for a kid with a fever and runny nose needs to be at a BBQ. Maybe they’d be better places at the park with other kids battling snotty noses where people aren’t sharing food, in close surfers chatting, sharing the bathroom, etc.
If kid was good enough to go, they wouldn’t be given Motrin to start with.

+1
How is this a debate?
It's a debate because one parent has to go to work tonight the other doesn't want to miss a BBQ
Seriously no one wants your sick kid at the bbq. It's not only selfish to expose everyone there to your kid's illness. It's selfish to bring a kid that feels crummy out to a bbq.
