I have fine straight flat hair that will not hold ANY product but will look frizzy all the time in DC (because it’s a swamp!) and am just rolling my eyes at y’all. “Flat” curls still look awesome.

My hair is thick and wavy/curly. I hate the wet look. If I use anything heavy on my hair it looks greasy by Day 2. And the puffiness can get out of control easily. What works for me is to use a lighter hand on styling products and focus more on moisturizing with a hair mask as needed.

Good luck, every curly head is different.

How can you say that? All I have to do is walk around with wet/crunchy hair for four hours and then I get the most gorgeous curls that last for at least 30 minutes as long as the weather is favorable and absolutely nothing touches them.

I hate the crunchy hair feel. I use Aveda Be Curly. Haven’t found any other products that give good definition but remain soft. It works best when I comb it in wet then wrap my hair up in a towel or tshirt and sleep with it that way overnight (there’s some name for how to do it that I can’t remember - I learned from YouTube). Super easy and nice soft curls

I use BB Curl Anti-Humidity Frizz Gel Oil. It is not crunchy and contains my frizz on most days.

This is bad advice for fine curls. My hair would be limp and greasy looking and never dry if I just used curl cream. If your hair is coarse this would be ok but not all curly hair is coarse or dense.

I have combo 3A/3B curls. When I use products that make my curls hard I take some sort of oil (my fave is joboa oil) and I will spritz it over my hair and then I will take the fully dry curls and separate them. Yes this is true. You can have volume or definition with curls. Not both.

You need the crunch (aka gel cast, the gel has set) to secure the curl. When it dries in the crunchy curly shape, it has kind of locked it in, and reduced frizz. After the hair is totally dry, you should "scrunch out" the gel with oil or product.

Put a quarter to nickel size of jojoba oil in your palm. The amount depends on the length and thickness of your child’s hair.

Rub your hands together and run it through the hair, skipping the scalp.

This is my favorite, easy technique
