I don’t agree with the “hellhole” part, but what’s wrong with the rest? Almost every other species is male-dominated. Why would we be different?

It’s a stupid nickname, almost as bad as princess for a girl.

Just like you don’t call boys “sassy.” I dislike that word btw.

Girl Scouts always use the “buddy system,” so some people do use it in a gender neutral way.

Maybe that’s what’s causing all the trans action…parents using the wrong terms of endearment.

I don't like when someone calls me "guy", but I don't mind " buddy" because a "buddy" can be a friend of any gender.

Buddy is short for brother.

So the parents are calling their sons ‘brother?!’ Now I’m even more confused

My Grandfather's name was Bud. Literally everyone knew him as Bud. It's not gender neutral.

It just is. So what? Who cares?

You can call a female a dude but when you say you saw a bunch of dudes, it’s males. Same with guys. You can say “you guys” to a group of men, women, or mixed but when you say you’re hanging with the guys, it’s males.

Terms don’t have to be gender neutral. It’s okay.

This one drives me nuts for reasons I can’t put my fingers on. Maybe because sissy became a pejorative? Maybe because they aren’t the parents’ sisters? It also bugs me when spouses refer to their spouse as Mama or Daddy (except when talking to a baby). The only exception is Big Daddy in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof because Burl Ives (or Brian Dennehy) can totally pull that off.

I tried to call my daughter buddy like I call my son buddy. She quickly told me she was not buddy and she was sweetie. I no longer call her buddy- but if she liked the nickname, I would.
