No not really, but they can make up things to get people worked up over nothing.

OK, classic Parents' Coalition then. I kind of *want* MCPS to charge a computer fee so I can refuse to pay and have my kids not use Chromebooks. Too bad.

Uh why would you not wanting your kids to use chromebooks?

Are you some sort of Luddite who thinks we should be using slates and chalks?

Why do you hate your children and want to deny them modern tools?

They'll just have to charge you for textbooks and reams of paper instead. And your kid will hate you as they drag those books back and forth.

If you had a kid in MCPS you'd know that they do print reams of paper to make crappy unreadable photocopies of textbooks, and even ran out of paper this year.

Hi Janis.

I am completely cool with use fees for things like band, sports, etc. I don’t want my taxes to be higher overall to pay for activities that don’t involve my child. Your petition is really stupid. What a strange hill on which to die.

So parents of kids who don't ride a bus shouldn't pay taxes to pay for buses and parents of kids who do ride the bus shouldn't pay taxes for crossing guards. Makes total sense.

I'm not ok with user fees for band and sports. We'd just not do it in MCPS and keep our private programs. HS don't get busses inside two miles no matter how unsafe. They need to bus more kids not less. I'd gladly pay not to drive my kids every day.

But isn’t the PC saying that students will have to pay fees next year? From the OP: “Next year the board will be collecting fees from students and using that money to fund the operating budget.”

Whereas 22:52 is saying you can’t force students to pay fees: “you still haven't explained how student funds would be used to pay for this contract.
It's a contract. Payment would be due. How are you going to force students to pay for whatever this is?”

If it is the PC they are not making a good argument.

Of course they are not making a good argument, they never do. They are making things up. Nowhere is the resolution does it say anything about collecting fees or forcing schools to use IAF funds or transferring money from
IAFs to pay the contact.

Then why did the Board meeting just start with that one agenda item being pulled from the agenda?

So they could rewrite it using smaller words that you can understand and not misinterpret.

You have had unlimited opportunities to explain the resolution.

Now your excuse is that one person couldn't understand it and so the Board pulled it for one person?

What is your justification form MCPS administrators who don't provide written contracts to the Board and don't make Resolutions to support those contracts clear for everyone, Board and the public?

The Board of Education didn't spend $30 million they were going to spend today.

Then they made supposed cuts of $30 million. Why?

Where is there a petition? The link you posted goes to a board of education resolution to use student fees instead of operating budget funds.

Post the link to the petition that you are talking about.

No explanation yet as to why the Board of Education is even mentioning student funds. If the claims here are to be believed then the Board of Education has a $10 million dollar slush fund sitting around that can be used to pay for this contract if the student funds do not come through. That's a funny argument as the Board screams that $30 million dollars out of their budget next year is going to devastate the entire school system.

Then explain the resolution.
Already did, again your reading comprehension is concerning.

How about you explain where is says students will be charged fees or where it says money will be transferred from IAF to fund the operating budget? Right, you can't because it does not say that or mean that.
