I would be very surprised if a school with a class labeled Chinese was teaching a non-Mandarin dialect.
I always get this question when I told people I speak Chinese. They then would ask," Do you mean Mandarin"? I don't know if they know both Mandarin and Cantonness share exactly the same writing. I guess folks want to be inclusive. Or they are clueless?

3) CTY offers very strong year long mandarin programs.
HOPE Chinese school offers weekend language classes.

Mandarin is Chinese. I don't know any school would offer Cantonese. What other language do you think would be categorized in Chinese but not Mandarin?

They begin mandarin in 7th. 4th-6th everyone takes Spanish. Begin in 7th, students choose from Spanish, Latin, mandarin and French.

SWW is cutting its CHinese program. I think this is the school OP is referring to.

The cuts at SWW are one thing we are concerned about, in addition to (wholly unsubstantiated and coming from my student) rumors that Deal/JR may be losing Mandarin teachers without replacements and/or reducing the program in the future to meet the DCPs budget cuts.
