Very common when I worked at a company with many international clients.
I don't do this anymore unless it is very important or no other time works. I work for myself now.

Then you need before care. Or you do the back and forth on schedules and pray you and your spouse don't have 8 a.ms on the same day.

Is this typical of corporate workplaces. I’ve only had one job. Most of my colleagues have SAHM and get to work early anyways.
My neighbor is in sales and seems to always start around 10, maybe I should switch fields.
All that matters is what is standard for your organization.
I support an organization where a lot of people commute in and they shift their schedule to support lighter traffic. It is common for people to be in the office at 7:30 (If not earlier)
I have a standing 8AM weekly and it is just something I need to do.
We pay for before and after care as we wanted to have the flexibility. The stress of having to shuffle schedules is not worth it.

Better to have meetings more like 10am to 2pm. More core hours. You'll catch more people.
Early morning meetings are obnoxious because you can't always judge how long it will take you to get to work so if you have early morning meeting you need to give yourself more buffer time and leave home earlier. They just make the morning more stressful.
Your spouse may not have control over the schedule.
Are you east coast? If you are in CA you may need to suck it up because that's 11am EST

I work for DOD and early schedules are common with all the ex-military folks around. Even then, 8am meetings are the exception. Most are scheduled between 9am and 3pm.

For a while I had double “8s” I have an in person daily 8am with London and a 8pm meeting with Tokyo. In person. I was at work 745 am to around 845 pm daily. Only did it 2-3 weeks. It was painful

Just block your calendar if it's a problem. And if there's no option to schedule at a more convenient time, you need to shell out for the early childcare.

I have a standing 8 AM call with a colleague but it's a time we agreed on because we are both early birds with self-sufficient kids who take the bus so it is a great time for a standing call because clients don't usually want that slot. About once a week, one of us will have a back-to-back 8:30 call scheduled. The core of my job is talking to clients and being responsive so making yourself available is part of the gig. I do block off my calendar after 5 and only book later slots if someone begs really nicely.

Yes, but I have clients in Asia, so my choices are early AM or late evening. But even if I didn't, I don't think 8 am is too out of the ordinary.
