The commute to Bethesda with a transfer at Metro Center (or Farragut North) shouldn’t be too bad. The drive to Kenmore would be a piece of cake.

The roads are just busy here. If you are traveling within the beltway around rush hour, there is just going to be traffic. If someone can leave between 7 or 7:30, that can help a lot.

You can look in Bon air and bluemont in Arlington for an older sfh rental. Lots of military rent in that area.
One dog is fine in most apartments- 2 limits you and the size is another factor- many have weight limits.
