I kid you not - safeway wanted $19.99 for a watermelon. This was about two months ago in Arlington. That price is gone now, still high but believable for the times.

And last weekend, I wanted to get my son a quart of ice cream and family owned grocery wanted $16. This was for a mass-market organic brand. I left it and got the same flavor at MOM'S for $10. Crazy markup.
