for leaking you need to make sure the seal in the top is correct and flush. they should be washed after every use. we have 3 or 4 in rotation since they are used daily. once its above 90 I give him 2 water bottles. he walks to and from school, has recess, and PE 2x week.
40oz is the suggestion for fluids from 4-8 years old. With a 16oz Owala, they probably need 2 plus milk 2x6oz and thats for a normal day. Add in heat or activity and it can be more.

We used a water bottle that had a click or twist sports spout. It did not leak and did not have all of those parts that I agree, get moldy.
You should also just email the teacher to find out what’s happening. That would be easier than trying to guess.
Do you have a link to the water bottle?

OP, just get bottles like these, its simple reallly. We have active kids and they lose or break them on occasion but its more important that they stay hydrated.
The teacher isn't saying these things to be jerky or difficult, they likely have very good reason whether you see that or agree... and its a small request.
And FWIW, the water fountains in many schools don't always work well.
Half the recent reviews say this bottle leaks. It would be simple if I could send a simple water bottle! Either the bottle has a million parts, or it leaks, or it is open/spout top which isn’t allowed. Seriously have gone through about 7 different water bottle models since kindergarten and haven’t found the right one.

And it is hot out. And will be for the rest of the year. It is a couple weeks. Just send a darn water bottle and more snack.

See I don’t think he should have to drink water every 10 minutes. He gets water and mil in the working before school and at lunch, and at two snack times and during PE. I don’t agree with the people - kids and adults - sipping at a water bottle every hour of the day.
It would also be easier to do daily if I could throw a capped bottle or Kleen Kanteen in every morning. Teacher is insisting everyone bring multi part bottles which inevitable mold if you don’t wash daily or else wear out and develop leaks.

I don't know, OP. My kids are 19 and 14 and still use their stainless steel water bottles I bought when they were in elementary.
Why is this hard for your family?
