It’s just information. I wish they had at-home tests for flu and strep. It’s nice to know what you have and what treatments will work or not. It’s nothing more than that for a lot of us. No one’s making a statement. It’s medical care.

Only jerks don't try to isolate when they have COVID.

I work with elderly people. I'm testing so I don't kill anyone.

The majority of us DON’T work with elderly people. We’re not going to kill anyone anymore than if we don’t isolate with the common cold. Stay in your lane.

You need to stay in your lane. If you don't work with elderly people or have a loved one who is immuno-compromised, etc., then WHY are you even on this thread commenting. NO one on this thread has said anything about everyone testing. But some of us do, because we are protecting people we care about. And the truth is, you should isolate for a short period of time when you are symptomatic at the start of any virus. ANY virus. People who go around when they are actively sick are, in fact, jerks. ALWAYS have been, long before covid.

The people who continue to come on Covid-related threads to say "who cares" or "stay in your lane" need therapy. Or some compassion. or maybe just to STFU.

Sorry, you didn’t say this?

“Only jerks don't try to isolate when they have COVID.”

You sound completely unhinged.

I did not say that. That was a different PP. People with *any* illness should stay home when they are actively sick to minimize spread of infection. That's basic. That is what I meant by "isolate for a short period".

I think whether or not the person who did say that is over stepping depends on what they mean by isolate. Does that really mean stay home when you are first sick or stay home for 10 days. The former is common sense and common courtesy. The latter is no longer necessary.

Either way, the only people who sound unhinged are people like you and other PPs who come on threads like this and stir up trouble because you were so traumatized by Covid, you can't remain civil when the word is mentioned.

The OP said nothing about everyone testing and nothing about everyone isolating. There is a subset of people who still, quite legitimately, pay attention to covid. If you have no reason to do so, count your blessings and leave those of us that do alone. Seriously, go away to other threads where you might possibly have a relevant comment.

Then why did you belligerently respond to my post responding to a specific post that wasn’t yours? Are you so incompetent that you are unable to follow a written conversation?

Again, you are unhinged. And not very bright.

Seems like you may be infectious for much longer. I am masking but with the latest guidance people probably would not even know.

I thought we were already well aware that rapid tests did not provide an indication of infectiosness. Like, we've known that for years now.

you don't know if you're exposing someone who has a vulnerable family member. My kid is one. Thanks - I already knew no one gives a sh#@$

People should stay home when they are sick with whatever, not just covid

The onus is on the vulnerable members of society and/or their caretakers to take extra precautions. The whole world is not going to keep shutting down for a virus that for a huge number of folks is so mild that they might not even know they have it.

So staying home for a few days when you are actively sick with symptoms is shutting down the world?

Expecting everyone to stay home regardless of symptoms for as long as they are testing positive for covid is, yes.

Not a single person in this thread has said that. No one. In fact, most, including me, have said the opposite. People have said that you should stay home if you are at the beginning of an illness with more than minor symptoms. Beyond that, if you have vulnerable people in your life, you might want to keep testing and take measures to avoid exposing them because people seem to be testing positive for a long time. It's more of a PSA for people concerned about exposing others rather than a demand that other people follow this advice.

Post 05/20/2024 11:43     Subject: A word of warning about this round of COVID

Our whole family has been very sick for the past 2-3 weeks, stomach bug in the beginning, then crazy coughing, fever… I’m pregnant now and had never had this sickness experience before, feeling very fatigued and because of the coughing it put too much pressure on my pelvic floor (had mild prolapse) and it’s getting so much worse. My husband brought our 5 years old to pediatrician last week as she’s very sick, but all tests came out negative. My husband noticed the COVID and flu test was done less than a second, is it done correctly and accurate? We felt it’s Covid
