I didn’t name any snide remarks behind his back - never even said anything to my husband. Just mentioned on an anonymous board that the rapid difference was startling and disturbing.
Also, I’m in Manhattan with a high/nornal BMI - but that’s chubby for my cohort - no reason to lose weight for health reasons. The private practice docs here are just VERY quick to offer it here.
If someone here who is a trainer wants to make a lot of money you should start a program to optimize the health/fitness/wellness of people on wegovy. I think that they may have specific needs that are not being met by a doctors simply writing an Rx every few months.

At any rate, your friend probably feels terrible. I’ve been on Wegovy about 6 months and have lost about 35 pounds so far. Only about a month ago did feelings of extreme fatigue lift. I’m feeling quite good now. It’s a trade off that is worth it to me to deal with the obesity; YMMV, as might your friend’s.
And fwiw, skipping the alcohol and only eating 1/2 of a restaurant portion are good things.

He has lost a lot of weight but his face looks a decade+ older - almost like a different person. He also seems sad - we had to share an entree since eating makes him feel sick, and he wouldn't have a glass of wine. Usually he’s snarky and funny, but he was so subdued - in part because he said he feels low-grade sick to his stomach all the time.
I understand that this is a healthier number on the scale, but my friend has a bigger stockier build and just looks haggard now - in contrast, my husband has a thinner build and is also very thin, but that visually “makes sense.”
Of course I told my friend that he looks great, but I found myself averting my eyes to avoid looking at his face at dinner. He looks sickly. And he says he still wants to lose 8-10 pounds more!
I am chubby, and my doctor asked me if I wanted a prescription for wegovy.
But I don’t really want to look like that or feel sick/sad all the time. Are there some sort of guidelines for protein intake and exercise? Are there specific exercise routines that can mitigate this? My friend says he’s been ramping up his dose over time. If you stay on a low dose rather than ramping up do you still feel so ill?

Anonymous wrote:I completely agree with the OP. My husband is on Ozempic and a close friend Wegovy. My friend is very very frail looking. And my husband is not eating healthy, still drinking too much and not exercising. I was thin and fit most of my life. I wish Wegovy was the answer. Ive gained 50lbs over 10 yrs and know what to do. And will do the healthy weight loss. But these drugs are not tested long enough. So now what does my friend do? Should she be upping her protein and weight training? Muscle wasting is a real danger on these. Will they ever be able to go off the drugs? My doctor kindly told me if my weight gain bothered me I could go on the drugs. I respectfully declined. I agree whole heartedly there is a missing piece for people on these drugs. They need to have PT and nutrition counseling while on the drugs.
