I'm normally very pro take the trip, but that's going to be at least a $1k weekend. If that isn't a major blow to your finances, it sounds SUPER FUN. You can always reign in the spending over summer and build it back.

Also, look at bringing groceries/drinks/snacks for your hotel. Will there be bonfires? Bring hotdogs and marshmallows. Bring snacks for the kids who will inevitably complain about being hungry.

For 3 night?!? Unless you’re camping, how could you pay less.

Err not all hotels are 250+/night in the middle of nowhere

The ones you want to make effort to get to generally are.

This. In 2024, I can’t say I’m interested in the sort of accommodations that are less than $250 a night.

I agree! Sounds like OP got a place by a nice lake for $800 for three nights that sleeps a family.

OP, go go go go go go go GOOOOO. You won't regret it. I never regret travel, even if it's just a long weekend. I guarantee, you will remember this long weekend for a long time (sounds cheesy but maybe forever?) as it's a break in your daily routine, your family will have some fun and make memories. Otherwise, it's just another forgettable weekend at home. "Remember that one time we went to the lake and blah blah blah blah blah happenend?"

Make the memories. Go.

And you got a great deal. The Courtyard Marriott across the highway from me charges $225/night, not including parking. And there is no fun lake nearby.
