Sent myself a beautiful bouquet of yellow roses with a card from my DH telling me what a great mother I am! Do this every year, I refuse to get bogged down in my DH is an ass world. The best part though is my DD just called and is insisting on coming over and making a special meal for dinner as her gift. I never put myself in a situation that I knowingly expect to ruin my day. I'm a grown up.

This will be my first mother's day posy divorce. Should I expect something from my ex? I have the kids tomorrow. I am currently dating and he is single still. I just hope he helped the kids plan something for me.

You aren't his mother and are you always this high maintenance?

Just tell him "I'd love to go here" and tell him to make a reservation.

I always plan and execute my own Mother's Day meal. Only *I* know what I want, and how to cook it. No restaurant for me. I don't want gifts. I don't give my husband anything for his Father's Day, and he also likes to cook his favorite meal on that day.

Also, DS is home from college today!!!

I told my husband explicitly what I wanted several weeks ago. We also discussed our Father’s Day plans in the same discussion.

I would love for him to intuit that I need to sleep in, want breakfast from this particular bakery, and want it delivered to me in bed before we go to see my sister and her children, then he takes off with our kids to see his mother while I relax with my sister. But it’s really unlikely that he’ll do so and frankly I’m in my 30s and don’t need to settle for some kind of half-assery, so my make my wishes known up front.

And yes a single mother of minor kids trumps grandma in deserving to be feted for Mother’s Day. From now on send a card/text and call it a day.

I am feeling run down, so all I want tomorrow is to skip church and be lazy. I bought a can of cinamon rolls to make breakfast special.
