The principal letter states it was about bullying, including online bullying that carried over to school.


Can you please post the principal’s letter? The only one I saw was from the MVMS principal and it didn’t say anything about bullying.

Hmm…so you then become the bully? This will become very circular because I can imagine the bully’s parents will want to retaliate against you for beating up their kid.

Because bullying and kids being violent to other kids is a pervasive problem in the schools. I know this- my kid used to go to another school near these schools until I pulled him out. Admin's hands are tied and the most they can do is an RJ circle- maybe a 2-day suspension. You call the cops and the cops just say they will stay out of it and let MCPS deal with discipline.

Stop bullying.
Advertise the bullying form.
Get rid of RJ in favor of good old fashioned consequences.
Reinstate schools for students who cause problems in mainstream schools and have more of them.
SROs
Detention
Suspension
Introduce the phone bags other schools use to prevent rampant phone/social media use.

I think the bigger issue here is what anyone thinks MCPS was/is supposed to do beyond what they did. They can’t control the behavior of individual people so they respond as needed.
