This is doubtful. If people were willing to pay for an aftermarket paint job then they’d be more than willing to pay for a custom factory color. Most German manufacturers have a custom paint program like this.

All the rich private school families in our NW DC neighborhood drive giant black SUVs - Yukons, Suburbans, Wagoneer or Grand Cherokee, etc.

I associate the black SUVs with private school families. White SUVs and Teslas proliferate at our local public school (we are one of them!).
