Original bad mather here. Got so excited I input $9M instead of $3M.
9 * 30 days = 270
270 - 72 weekend days = 198
3,000,000/198 = $15K per day
15,000 * 5 = $75K per week
75,000 * 4 = about $300K per month

Ok so I was just in this position and I chose to take the severance. Much less money but still notable. I was going to see if I could make it to August for an additional $100,000 but instead took the bird in the hand at $160,000.
Also, I would question your assumption you could even make it nine months. It was presented to me to do six months, but they would have pushed me out before that I’m sure of it. That is partially why I took the offer because I knew they would double down to get out of paying the next thing and I had already doubled my anxiety meds and lost a bunch of weight so I figured I would just pop out.
If you are in tech like I am, everyone is trying to get profitable and if they can shove you out and save $3 million they will do that

You would make more in 2 days than I do for a year, OP. I’ll come do your job and we can split 50/50
I was about to write the same thing. I make less than 2 days of that per year, and I keep showing up, through good boss and bad!

The issue is whether you go for the 9 months and risk him taking the severance package off the table and then firing you before you vest. Can you get an real agreement on this? I sort of doubt it would be enforceable. What leverage to do you have to get him to stick to the 9 months?
