I'm trying to make sense of what I saw on Monday night. My son played in the middle of the field and stayed there the whole time. I thought he did VERY well. But every time he scored I saw that the coach wasn't watching. At one point he was juggling a soccer ball while the kids were playing. I did notice another ADP player was moved onto the field were my son was playing and this player is extremely good. Is there a format to the fields? And then at the end, the coach pulled my son, the really good player, and one other kid and sent them to see another coach. That coach just said they did well and that some kids who don't get selected for travel will get invited to trainings. Huh? I don't know what that means. Also, it was like pulling teeth getting info from my son so that doesn't help. I wish they had talked to the parents too.

Would come earlier

Well one tryout is done—anyone non/pre-academy gotten anything yet?

I think they wait until the teams are finalized to say anything— so next week would be the very earliest.

Thanks. Interesting. So no rolling offers, eh?

In our experience Arlington gives out offers to highest teams and returning players first. There are bubble players who may move up/down based on acceptances. The lower teams receive offers after higher teams filled with exception of returning players. Eg. Larla has been on blue and they do not intend to move her up or down.

His by no means a top team player but would like the multiple trainings a week and better competition that any travel will offer vs ADP even the lower level teams. Arlington just seems like there are very limited if any spots unless your top team material. Thanks for the advice on the DCSC offer I’ll see what they say. Any other travel clubs in the area that should be considered?

Do you already do both ADP and rec? Not better competition but at least your kid will get more touches/practice.

If that's the case, a handful of those kids should go to Alexandria and they would be picked up for MLS Next. The Alexandria MLSN 2010 team routinely loses to ECNL-RL teams.

Have you talked to the Travel coach that works with your kids adp team. That would be the first thing I would do. Tell them what the deal is and ask what they think you should do. The travel coaches overseeing adp are almost always looking to help in my experience.

If its a girl team, hold out for Arlington. The DSCS girl's program is abyssmal. Almost all age groups and levels of team in last place in low divisions of NCSL.

Your DCSC offer is safe until August. The DC clubs struggle to fill rosters at every age group so you should be fine hollding out to hear from Arlington. Communication goes a long way to not burning bridges though so take this informaiton and now communicate with DCSC. They may play hardball, but trust your kid could show up in September and make their team if you got this offfer now in May

Don’t know if anyone can answer that but if the coach is going to bring over his own players, the top third or half of the existing team are probably safe. If your kid is on the bubble, maybe talk to coaches at other clubs.

My kid was trying out so not sure if I should accept an offer from DCSC or wait until I find out from Arlington which would mean the other offer is gone.
