I sure hope a lot of Feds retire if Trump is elected. It would make his goal of shrinking the wasteful and bloated federal government that much easier.

Hate on Feds, tell them to quit. It happened under the first Trump Administration. And many did. . Now Florida is backed up one full year on processing some benefits because they don’t have the staff. And SSA benefits are actually very, very complicated to process. It takes 1-2 years to get up to speed. Just hiring now doesn’t solve the problem. And if you can’t retain people who make it through the first two years, it gets worse and worse. Oopppppsss.

Before you tell a Fed to “just quit”, make sure you are okay waiting a year or longer for your VA or SSA benefits.



So the “”leadership” of the SSA and overly complex systems and policies aren’t the problem?

SSA is for getting your foot in the door- and then finding a better gov job. The VA is firing people rn. Someone should improve the VA claim system because my last c and p exam was at a “beauty spa” that prescribes weight loss meds. It wasn’t even a doctor’s office. The exam was for cancer. Really great job, just fantastic.


First, some of us (actually most of us), believe in SSA’s mission and aren’t looking to move.
Second, yep. Trump took three years to appoint a Commissioner. We went a long, long time without him having anyone with real authority in change. Which on one hand was fine, because the career civil servants running things were better than his eventual appointee. And a problem, because there was no one to advocate for the agency.
Third— again— yep. SSA computer systems are very outdated. That’s what you get when you funding is often month to month and CR to CR. No ability to make long term plans for things like IT upgrades. And yep SSA regulations are incredibly complex. It take a great deal of time to get up to speed. Which is why you don’t want people “getting their foot in the door” and leaving.

I assume this is just trolling. Even so, it's just so dumb. Congress passes the tax code, not federal agencies. And a reduction in the federal workforce means less services, but it sure doesn't guarantee less taxes.

At this point I'm fairly convinced that there's a large swath of America that isn't ever going to be satisfied by anything, but 15 years from now when their water is polluted, food poisoning is common, healthcare works less well than ever, and tax refunds, social security checks, etc., etc., take so long to show up you might as well never get them they will still be claiming that those idiot federal workers are to blame instead of the fools they elect to Congress on a regular basis.

Well, there are plenty of people in Congress, the majority of them Republican, who get very large commodity and other payments from the USDA. The offices that process these have been scrambling for the last several years (I get a small stipend for farmland I own that was taken out of production and seeded with native grasses to prevent erosion and have experienced this).
