Subject: Arlington 2015 boys
The most important past of this discussion is something you just hit on with development. I wonder if that rotation is a "Club" or "coach" philosophy?
Because you're right, we've noticed the same, especially with Loudoun. We've played and seen them multiple times and so long as their two big defenders are there, they are well organized in back and can be dangerous. However when one was gone they were not the same team.
Probably why they do very well at full strength in NCSL games and have won multiple smaller tourneys but flamed out in Arlington this Spring vs. SYC and Bethesda.

I will say that Bethesda and Pipeline both seem to be a step above Loudoun as well for the 2015s, but when Loudoun plays well they seem to be really good. However we've played and seen them so many times already that we've seen them not play well (like all 9 year olds are prone to do).
I have seen all these teams play and I noticed one commonality in their style, Arlington, loudoun, Alexandria. They all play their boys in specific positions with very little movement/rotations, if your best defender gets injured or sick your team has problems because you did not develop other players to play the position.
Bethesda, mclean, Coppermine and syc are the only teams that I have seen so far actually move players in different positions and rotate them very often along with equal playing time, they sometimes lose games for this reason.
The other trend is that those three teams do extremely well at tournaments compared to the others because they play their best players in their positions when its for a tournament and substitutions determine the match and they have deep benches due to giving equal development.

Tournaments = YES through the individual tournament sites.
NCSL = NO, just word of mouth as you talk to parents etc... Do not think NCSL starts to track Ws/Ls on their website until u11. And rightfully so!
As others have indicated, doesn't matter much for the u9/10 as they are definitely more developmental age and 1 or 2 strong players can still dominate long stretches of games. Plus our sons team is often missing players for lacrosse, football, baseball and basketball etc.. so you never can tell who actually showed up that weekend. For most clubs (there are some exceptions), that level of commitment won't start to be reinforced for a couple of years as coaches still want those athletes to choose soccer and not burn them out/force a decision for 1 sport just yet.

Go for it, but I would ignore all the top team and jeff cup references. They are 9 year olds...Coaching and development should be your criteria, not jeff cup trophy. U13 is when it starts to be competitive with many younger teams not traveling from far out to participate.

Totally possible. No dog in the fight re: 2015s. I just happened to catch the 2015 game last weekend and heard parents saying that Alexandria was undefeated this spring before Arlington beat them. Good on them.

My son and I watched the Loudoun 2015B Madrid (I think?) beat Alexandria 10-4 (maybe 11-4?) last Fall. Granted conditions sucked (wind) and Loudoun got a big lead early with the wind at their back but it wasn't close THAT day.
We stayed to watch after the Alexandria White team beat the #2 Loudoun team (forget which they are? Bayern or City?).

The 2012 SYC team is not a strong team. They have big players and they play a year up in the lower bracket and bring in a 2011 keeper.

Bethesda 2012 won SuperCopa, and BSC teams have also won JeffCup. But yeah other than that, what the quoted poster said was silly, the 2012 SYC team has an impressive track record.
