We can’t shed light because the board was not transparent about this. It seems, however, that they had her waiting in the wings for some time. Maybe when McKnight went out on medical leave?

Nope.
MCPS employees get a lot of leave. It shouldn't be any different for her than my kids teachers who are out a few weeks of the year on personal leave.
No teacher gets a few weeks of personal leave.
If they teach at Seven Locks Elementary they do. The teachers and staff there are always out on leave.
Not personal leave, though. Medical or professional, perhaps.
Could be FMLA, could be they are in IEP/504 meetings all day, could be their grest grandmother's 95th bday for all you know. So judgey
I don't really care where they are. My point just is that nobody is ever teaching the kids. Like another poster said, the teachers and staff are out a minimum of 25% and there are no subs so it's just a free for all most days.

Why did they bring him back?
I agree. I was not impressed with him during his substitution for Felder during the BOE meeting.
He seemed OK to me.
He is well respected within the system for getting things done and being transparent.

Or the acting deputy superintendent Lance Dempsey.
Hopefully this means the BOE has caught on to how terrible both of them are.
Dempsey is “acting special assistant” but is filling the role as deputy…NOT A GOOD MOVE.
