They reached out last Thursday because they had some additional follow up questions about my resume. We had a call where they had a lot of probing questions about career decisions I made in the not too distant past. Basically I had left a more prestigious job for what appears to be a big step back in the last 6 months and they seemed very troubled by that and wanted to understand why, and why I was looking again. I addressed it as best I could, but they seemed not thrilled with my answers.
It’s been radio silence since. When do I give up hope?
Very weird for a fed job and possibly discriminatory. Asking different questions of different people opens the door to a lot of potential bias influencing the hiring decision. Plus scrutinizing anything other than a standard career would seem to harm women and minorities who often don’t get the opportunity to stick to the standard job path. You sure you want to work there?
