Well, they don't publish a common data set, which is a bit suspicious, but they have to submit one to USNWR for ranking purposes. Here are the numbers:
Middle 50% SAT: 1060-1260 (W&L: 1410-1530)
Middle 50% ACT: 19-26 (W&L: 32-35)
Six-year graduation rate: 70% (W&L: 95%)
These two schools just aren't in the same universe. But you knew this already.
What do these metrics tell us that's useful?
The academic caliber of the students and the percent who graduate within six years. Are you trying to be dense?

Instead, I would try JMU in Virginia, and in NC, especially Warren Wilson College (very environmentally focused) and UNC-Asheville.
A kid who has the stuff for W&L would be bored to tears academically at these schools. You and the last couple of PPs are way off about the nature of the Greek scene at W&L. It's not a monolith like at Alabama or Ole Miss. There is absolutely a house for the OP's kid. And to respond to the earlier PP, he's an 18 year old male, unless he rolls the other way then yes, he wants to get chicks in college.
OP’s kid is apparently female, but who knows, maybe she’s still looking to get chicks.

App state has 20,000 students and you are trying to compare it to a small liberal arts school of 1,900 but that makes me a snob. They are not comparable from a student environment or academic standpoint.

I'm curious why Bucknell is frequently listed as an elite, selective LAC on this board? Did it used to be that way? If you look at its 2023-24 CDS, its incoming student stats are in line with Sewanee and Furman, not Davidson, Colgate and W&L.
It's not about incoming student stats or academics, it's about career prospects and pipelines to The Street, areas where Bucknell fights way above its weight and absolutely holds its own with the other schools listed. Sewanee is an excellent LAC for academics (don't know as much about Furman), but JPM and Centerview aren't likely to be seen at a career fair there.

W&L female alumna here. W&L today is very different than even 10 years ago. The frat scene may still be there but it is not nearly as dominant as it used to be. There is much more diversity and options for the arts. The Outdoors Club was and still is super active and wonderfully run by James Dick. They do a pre orientation trip option of hiking/camping along the Appalachian trail.

You didn’t mention whether your kid is male or female. Our daughter is a double legacy and we would not send her to W&L. The bro frat scene is a terrible environment for women, and I’d argue, men who care about women.
