I haven't used NYT much (because it costs money), but Smitten Kitchen has been the best.

That's why "jump to recipe" is such a great function on blogs like hers.

I never look at comments. NYT let’s you print just the recipe.

My pet peeve with NYT is that they bought into the chicken thigh fad / lobby. We eat mostly chicken in our house and do not like chicken thighs. Yes, I’ve tried them. And understand they are suppose to be juicer/more flavorful but I find a tenderized chicken breast well marinaded is much more delicious.

I also use an app called Paprika to save recipes. This standardizes how the recipe is presented and stripes out all the blog blather which I find annoying to sort through. Unfortunately it doesn’t work with NYT receipes but helps me organize others. And it allows you to create a shopping list from selected receipts.

It is paid ($2-3 a month) but I find it super helpful!

I use both plus also Once Upon a Chef (her Moroccan chicken/green sauce, Parmesan crusted chicken, chicken Tikka, and Mac and cheese are on regular rotation at our house but many of her other recipes are great too).

NYT has enough stuff that I can enter my main ingredients (what seems to be on hand) then “easy” and then I check the number of stars. If it seems workable I use it. If questions, skim comments.

I dislike ads and blather in blogs.

Sometimes there are disappointments, or it takes me way more time to matchstick and dice and mix a little sauce than they say it will.
