Bio and biotech is horrible.

It is a notoriously unstable field where there are constant layoffs for basically you're entire life. It's not unheard for someone to have to work for 8 different companies by the time they're 42 because of constant layoffs. Good luck trying to setup a life and buy a home if you're constantly long your job every 2-3 years.

You should read the biotech subreddit. You'll get a feel for how rough employment is in the sector. There are far too many candidates and there is a complete glut of biotech labor. Salaries are often atrocious for BS degrees and even for many PhDs.


Much, much, much better off studying statistics, computer programming, computer/echanical/electrical engineering, finance, accounting, or medicine.

Nope. Many positions call for a BS.

Not for a scientist. Lab tech, yes, but scientist level positions are for PhDs after their post doc. You can't even be a scientist without post grad training.
