+1 I was actually thinking this. In general, if you are over a certain age, time to be selfless (not selfish!) in times like the tragedy mentioned - any emergency, really.

I wonder if the fire started upstairs where the kids were both playing, and the grandparents and the older brother (all of whom escaped and weren’t seriously harmed as far as I know) were on the main level or even in the basement. And the smoke and flames upstairs were maybe so thick there was no way for a person without protection to get them out. Especially not an older person or another elementary age child. I am very curious as to the cause - I hope the FD releases it. In some ways it reminds me of the story about the large home in MD where the old, dry, live Christmas tree ignited due to an electrical fire and just destroyed the whole house with flames instantly. The grandparents and grandchildren who were staying over were all killed.

What exactly happened? How did the grandparents survive and not get the kids out? Did something explode and the house just went up in seconds?
