Why are kids like this rejected? Then you see kids with 115 cogat get in just bc they had a good hope rating and report card grades.

Kids scoring low on the screener tests should not be admitted. Period.

So many low iq kids in aap just because they are outgoing and favored by teachers.

The kids in my kids' AAP classes who hold the class back are not the outgoing, compliant ones. Those kids exist, but they also manage to do the work just fine. It's the kids with a combination of behavior challenges AND who don't seem to get the material who hold the class back. And those kids definitely exist. Maybe there's only 2 or 3 per grade at our center, but we groan when they end up in the kids' classes because they cause learning issues.

Kids who would score well on the HOPE and are merely slightly above average academically do fine in AAP, and the committee knows it.

Yes, you can type things. My kids enjoyed the extra screen time typing up work samples gave them.

Make sure your kid also types up an explanation of the work sample.

Kids with high scores should get in because their performance is evident. But kids with lower scores should be considered as well using HOPE or other factors. Not all kids are test champs!

You can use odf editor to re-type what he wrote on yhe margin. The goal is to help the reviewer see his thought process. Handwriting should not matter, just help him present it.

What?! Handwriting weighs more than test scores?

I think to take a woodcock Johnson achievement test or iowa test of basic skills might help to explain iready is not reflecting true achievement

New test scores may not that useful.
It is the HOPE weighted most.
