Remember when workers did exactly that, during and immediately after the pandemic, and businesses screamed bloody murder? The federal and state minimum wages are so far behind the dost of living it's laughable. Businesses have been exploiting an artificially cheap labor market for decades, and the bill just came due.

Minimum wage want from $16 to $20. Did they really raise their prices that much? Overnight? Doubtful.


Labor cost in fast food industry is typically 25-30% of total product cost.

So if an item in the status quo cost $5, at $16 an hour, the labor portion of the cost would be $1.50. Remaining costs would be $3.50. Raising wages from $16 an hour to $20 an hour would mean labor portion would go from $1.50 to $1.87, making the new cost of that $5 item $5.37.

Republicans need to put up a ballot measure in California- minimum wage= $50 an hour. See if Democrats will argue against it.

Why socialism? The nordic model seems to result in competitive businesses and a high standard of living for citizens. People who pretend that we aren't capable of having the same kind of capitalism that Western Europe enjoys must have a really low opinion of America

A tax code that doesn’t favor the wealthy and corporations is not socialism.

I have owned and run a business. I paid my employees a living wage. I was not so greedy that I paid minimum wage to make a bigger profit.
