I don't know how the AoPS classes work but the RSM Virtual Class only allows 12 kids into the class. I would guess that a text based chat class would allow for a larger number of kids, making it less expensive then a on camera class where you limit the number of participants so everyone can participate and you decrease potential lag time.

At least RSM is honest about instructor's location, and shows the instructor's face and let's them speak like one would expect from a typical online class. What is unscrupulous about this AoPs offering is first they charge more than a typical online class so it is not less expensive, and more importantly it is termed Live Online class misleading enrolees into thinking it would have a live instructor who appears and teaches the class with audio/video, when it is just a group text chat admin, assisted by more chat assistants who do DM texts. No one know if this chat admin is the same instructor that they display with "photo" during registration and payment.

We got burned too. No where do they mention on their website that their deceptive Live Online means no instructor will be seen or heard.

Curious, how did you burn yourself? It's very clearly spelled out on their main page here, nothing needed other than basic reading comprehension skills: https://artofproblemsolving.com/school/about-classroom

Also, I have so many questions... why didn't you ask for a refund after the first two classes? Were you not even curious enough to sit with your child to see the program? How do you normally handle your Amazon returns?

Unlike AoPs, most Amazon Vendors are honest and correct their misleading product descriptions immediately, instead of sending links from their website with convoluted information. Of course, there are few unscrupulous vendors, and to counter their gimmicks, gladly Amazon has a return policy.

AoPS also offers Language Arts classes. Maybe those are more important for you than their math classes.

The assistants help privately if you don't understand something. If your child actively participates, it's great instruction.

If that format isn't your kid's thing then the book and some videos will save a lot of money. My kid has done it both ways.

Nope.

AOPS academy virtual campus is not the same as AOPS online. AOPS online is all text based.

are these "instructors"even US based? No way to tell if they are the same person on the profile if the never show their face or speak a word.

Why does this matter? Personally, I would prefer an advanced math instructor from a different country over the trash teachers my kids have had in math over the years.

Being honest matters. Using a photo of an instructor to lure registration and payment, and never showing that individual's video or audio while conducting a class is reason to be suspicious. The least they can do is clarify it instead of mentioning Live Online class.

You seem to have some personal problems if you believe US based teachers are trash teachers in comparison to instructor from different country.
