Lieberman was a decent man. He was bipartisan. However, choosing him as his running mate was Gore's first mistake. Between Gore and Lieberman the personality and charisma meter was minus 50. But when he switched to being an Independent he lost credibility and his "No name party" proved he had dementia.

I guarantee he is hated more by Democrats than the GOP. For good reason.

This. He opposed extremism and he was a Jew. Apparently that's all it takes to be public enemy #1 these days and some PPs just can't wait to signal their virtue (and their Gentility) by tearing him down and calling it "punching up".

I never took much notice of publicity surrounding him, but I'm enjoying reading about what a good man he was. Others have a right and the privilige to harbor and even state their own views. Based on what I've read so far, it seems he would be the first to defend the right of free speech.
