Yes, there's something to be said about the mere optics too. With women, longer hair covers them up. Everyone sees men wearing them. And women are delicate and flightly, not expected to be fully aware of their surroundings. It's just so un-masculine and timid for a man to walk around all day oblivious of his surroundings. My husband is a law firm partner who runs a giant group. He’s in them for many hours a day listening to various conference calls because the clients want him on the calls. He’s making more than $10M/year, so I’ll refrain from telling him that the OP thinks he’s “juvenile.”
