If near the front of economy it's within 5 minutes. Pretty big difference between 10 and 15-20 when talking about making a connection.

Now the C to A connection, yes that's the major problem, especially now with the new A terminal being farther away. But the comment about the train is incorrect, because the train at Newark is before security, so if you take it you will have to exit the secure area and then clear security again at A. This is OP. Thanks so much for the info about the United shuttle. Did not know about that and thought we’d have to go through security again.

Got very good fare/deal on this trip. Tried to change flight today and there is absolutely nothing available.

DH also insists we check luggage bc ‘trying to race through terminal with carry ons will slow us down’ Oh, I forgot to mention we are traveling with our two kids. We’ll pack bathing suits and change of clothes in backpacks. Keep your fingers crossed for us! We are so burned out and need this quick getaway.

There is no way you are getting off a plane if you're in the back in 10 minutes. You just aren't.

The other day I was in row 42 of a 777. I checked the gate arrival time just now- 8:51 PM. I have a text I sent at 9:06 PM saying "about to order Uber" which was when I was just walking past the security checkpoint, which at that airport was probably a 6-7 minute walk from the plane door. But go off queen.

No, they definitely will not have the other plane wait for you. How would you feel if your flight from DC to Newark was delayed because they were waiting for a couple who had a tight connection? Not to mention the hit to on-time performance.

They probably won't even ask people to remain seated so you can get off first, but you can certainly mention it and ask if that's possible.

If everything goes perfectly, you should be fine. But if there's a bump in the road you definitely don't have any wiggle room.

Hold planes for late connections a lot. Happened on my most recent flight to st Thomas for spring break. Plane left 20min late and breathless middle aged couples were sprinting onto the plane as we waited. The flight attendants announced that we were waiting for a late connection.
