Lol, I assure you we're not cheap. Our kids love flying "alone" but without actually being alone, they don't need the extra space first class provides, it's not like they'll avail themselves of the free alcoholic beverages, so there's no need to give them first class.


Nice so you relax while someone else has to babysit your kids for free.

I guess if this was an International flight where you get to stretch and sleep in first class vs being cramped in economy I would judge if father left kids in economy. I have no idea if it is the same in 1st class for domestic flights (where you can stretch out fully), so no comment on that.

Your kids aren't as well behaved as you think. Other passengers are helping them since you won't.


They don't need help. And yes, they are. We get compliments on their behavior regularly.

Perhaps they all had seats together and dad is a frequent flier and the airline informed him that he had been upgraded. Yeah, he could have turned it down, but I don’t really see an issue here.

Did none of you fly when you were teens? I had to deal with harassment on flights and I would never subject my young daughters to that without me nearby.

Well, you know, if this is a problem, then airlines could easily solve it by requiring family members to sit together.

Which would mean they would have to allow them to fly together without charging extra. This seems not to be a priority so I don't have a problem with parents doing it when it suits them.

OP here- the dad and the kids were also obviously going to Disney- i heard this while waiting in baggage claim. It just seems mean to take the kids on an awesome spring break, but first ditch them to ride in first. There was also a ton of turbulence, so it wasn’t a smooth and easy flight. Finally, just because kids are old enough to fly alone, doesn’t mean they want to.
