That said I’ve always loved the Celtic name Maeve.
Maeve Ma****** would be nice, I think.
My family wasn’t white trash as suggested above.
Mae is an English feminine given name, a variant of May, both rooted in the Roman goddess Maia. In Gaelic and Celtic Mae also means goddess. The Greek goddess Maia was the goddess of nursing mothers.
I’m really not sure why some people feel the need to denigrate other people’s names, but there is nothing wrong with the name Mae and no, it is not primarily a nickname although it can be.
Ignore those posters! They are super ignorant. They often denigrate old money, aristocratic, European names as "trashy" because they have no knowledge and think the names are new or have new spellings when they don't. Idiots.

Help.. clueless
Anonymous wrote:Arden sounds masculine to me, or gender neutral at best. I prefer Mae for a girl.
Anonymous wrote:Both are trying too hard. Arden will be teased and called Elizabeth Arden (my dd has a teammate named Arden who is teased). Mae will be misspelled and just sounds like a nn
