Doesn’t bother me at all. Glad people are interested enough to find out.

What’s with the cucumber?

It's part of the Hilaria Baldwin diss. In a cooking show segment she "forgot" the english word for cucumber.

If you're from the British Isles you are definitely part Scandinavian. Because history, just sayin.

Yeah it's rude.

Two ethnicities I find very easy to guess are Ethiopian and Filipino, with the latter being especially easy to guess if last name is known. I work in healthcare, so I have a lot of colleagues from both countries.

This happens to me all the time. Are you asking because you think this is a microagression?

I don’t let it bother me. I think people are just trying to connect.

Like most things, it depends. It doesn’t bother me at all if people are guessing wrong to assume that I”m more like them. When I lived in NYC, people often spoke to me in Spanish, and that felt welcoming. What’s bizarre and offensive is when people TELL me what I look like or seem like to them — in ways that center them and their guesses rather than any genuine effort to connect with me.

The vast majority of kids get a break on this, as long as their curiosity is accompanied by a modicum of politeness.

I enjoy asking people I suspect of being anti Semitic if they're Jewish.
