Normally I would think that sort of thing is too fussy and self-absorbed, but she pulls it off -- she has a sort of punk rock vibe to her, and manages to make this look both Oscar appropriate and also fit her look. I'm not loving the platform sandals with it though, and it makes the hemline hit weird. I'd tell her that she's too cool for platforms -- they always look so fashion-victimy.
I think an overall theme for the night was modern chain mail. Lots of dresses with that sort of structured sparkley feel to them.
She needed the platforms for the height. She's a smaller stature, curvy shape. Needs to dress for her body.

I also think Michelle Yeoh is amazing.

Agreed. I think her boobs are too big for a dress like that. It made her look matronly.
+1 Her “heavy naturals” (tm Bowen Yang) do not work for this.

Anonymous wrote:the weird straps on Florence Pugh and Emily Blunt totally distracted me; I didn't get the effect (futuristic supposedly?) and it just looked so ill fitting on otherwise slim and fit bodies.

Zendaya is so stunning that it's almost unreal. That woman wears clothes like no one else.

It's because she's fine-boned and slim, instead of average-boned and starved to fit into a size 0. Therefore she looks healthy, yet slender, and she has the good sense to find clothes that don't reveal things we don't necessarily want to see, like bony sternums on other women's V-shaped decolletage.

Florence Pugh is beautiful but she seemingly can't find a good stylist.

+1000 She also has great taste and knows what colors look good on her.
