My favorites below, been to each at least twice and had consistently good experiences.

Fancier/special occasion: Albi; Rose’s Luxury; Amazonia

More casual: Copy Cat; San Lorenzo; Caruso's Grocery; Duck and Peach (for brunch!)

What do you recommend at China Chilcano? Walked by many times but wouldn’t know what to get

Unless it’s a typo for Peter Chang.

Okay. Peter Changs makes sense. PF Changs does not. Will the person who posted PF please clarify.

I'm curious, too. I keep hearing people rave about Peter Chang's. I've been to one in Rockville and one in Virginia somewhere and both were pretty good but not rave worthy. I'm vegetarian, though, so perhaps the meat dishes are better.

For Chinese, though a different region, I really like Northwest Chinese in College Park. Spicy but delicious. I'd put that under "worth it" for sure.

I also like Peter Chang’s but many of the dishes upset vey similar. The fried eggplant and bamboo fish are the same spices. The braised beef and braised fish are also similar. Not rave worthy.

Northwest Chinese good but totally different. A bit more rave worthy than PC.

Pp you're responding to. I think that was the problem. Each vegetarian dish on the table (we shared several each time) was flavored nearly the same. The bubble pancake was fun, but that and the eggplant were so oily. I think I'll stick to the flavor punch of Northwest Chinese, which is also much cheaper. Warning that it is not at all fancy inside, just delicious.

Enjoyed salt and vine a lot

We dropped $850 for 4 at L'Ardente. It was good. You pay for the atmosphere. It was a place where you go to be seen. The clientele was DC elite and you get to people watch. I liked all of the food.

I think because chains offer more value. Going out to eat is pretty pricey. I want a little more value since I am spending so much. DCUM is not a boring group of eaters.
