Author is Emma Sasaki. Very very brief googling didn't turn up much except listings of this book, which is her first. I would not be surprised if it's a pen name. Her bio says she lives in the DC suburbs and attended "a Quaker private school."


But Sidwell is a private Quaker school and not a Quaker private school.

defiitely a pen name. definitely a former teacher/employee of SFS. not necessarily alum of SFS - could be another quaker school (there are many in the mid-atlantic).

I am worried that the author is white…it’s going to be a bad look.

I still dislike Celeste Ng from the Bad Art Friend story, so I also hope it’s not her, although I did enjoy Little Fires Everywhere pre-Bad Art Friend.
