Wow, this thread is one of the least helpful I’ve ever read here. My family has had a much more positive experience at WMS than Discovery but neither are what would drive me to transfer. I would suggest joining the Facebook Williamsburg parents group to ask your questions there.

If you have specific questions, that might be an easier way to get helpful information rather than “the administration is terrible”.

Because there is one pyramid in APS that is fully toxic and it includes WMS. Not Discovery.

Maybe one person is. But the OP stated that she does not like the admin at WMS and wants a transfer.

Both middle schools are probably fine overall. Hamm is newer (in terms modernized facilities) and has a popular principal. Hopefully WMS gets a renovation or rebuild in the next CIP.

No one is getting a transfer out of Williamsburg. It’s way underenrolled as it is.


For “targeted transfers” no. But “neighborhood transfers” are still allowed between all middle schools, if there is space available at the destination schools.

I have never interacted with a teacher or admin at WMS aside from signing my kid out early or calling to say they are sick.


Not WMS, at Discovery. The administration would punish an entire grade for the actions of one or two kids. The kids had a teacher who would say wildly inappropriate things in front of them or unattended so yes, we did interact as parents with the administration.

We sent four kids to Williamsburg. There was no drama whatsoever. We didn’t have to spend any time “interacting with teachers and administrators.” It’s friggin middle school. Over before you know it.
