When I see the sticker I am less annoyed and more patient/understanding if the driver does something weird or is going too slow, etc.

I don't care if it's a teen or adult. There are adult new drivers (from other countries, never drove until adulthood, whatever). Idc the reason why and it works for me.

Yes my young driver is nervous, and just learning how the mechanics of the car work. Hopefully people see the sticker and go around us. It’s stressful.

people think it will give them the ability to be exempt from the rules of the road and having the skill to drive and responsibility of not being a danger to other drivers this is purely a DC area phenomena, hardly see any in NY NJ or New England

I absolutely have no issue with kids learning how to drive and am more than happy to give them a little grace. When it’s adults in the car and these stickers are on every third car, it pisses me off because then everyone becomes desensitized to these stickers and then they actually don’t work for the kids. Out of every time I see them, maybe 1 out of 40 is actually a kid. I sh!t you not.

You should honk. The sticker doesn’t say not to honk. You should continue to drive like the complete azzhole that you are. Even the new drivers, needs to learn that their are inconsiderate and sad drivers out there.

My 17-year-old daughter blew me out the water how safe and responsible and instinctive she was. But there are certain circumstances that have never come up and she doesn’t know how to handle in the moment; and it probably would help, if someone behind her understood that she may not realize know that she could pass a stopped trash truck on a two Lane road because the rule is not to pass “when there’s a double line in the middle”… so it takes her a minute to adequately check her mirrors and feel comfortable “speeding” around.

So if it helps you, and makes you feel superior to be rude to her in this situation. Go ahead. she’ll just roll her eyes and laugh at how “extra” you are

Agree with this.

Because people are putting them on as a pass to drive/park like an idiot. They *used* to mean something, and people would remove the magnets once a kid learned to drive. Now they're stickers - and people just leave them on forever. I think nothing of them.

you can get 3 for $6 on Amazon delivered to your house in two days. I personally didn’t care if it said “student, driver” or “new driver” or “please be patient” etc.

The goal was to get cheap bright sticker-magnet that could be displayed on the back of the car while my kid was getting experience driving. We’re on our second set, as the first set only lasted a few months before they started to peel. The second set was higher quality, I guess; and I ended up giving the extra to my kid’s parent when she complimented me on having it

Ha - my teen who has a permit begged to get these for our car, so I finally did. And I understand why - it's hard to gain valuable driving experience without getting on the roads here. In Virginia, kids need 45 hours before they can take the driving test. That's a lot of hours on busy roads!

The sticker isn’t for your “forgiveness” lol; they want you to be safe.

The stickers are for you…. Or the other external responsible driver. It is a warning that the person driving this car could do something stupid….. Change lanes without signaling, stopped abruptly, swerve, etc.

If you are expecting all other drivers to drive as well as you, and stay on their lane 100% of the time, the sticker is to let you know that this one person probably has 2 months of experience compared to your 20 years.
