Same here. Got home from the office and found the house is a total mess (DH works from home), so I’ve got that to look forward to as well. I don’t care about getting things, but my husband and kids know that all I really want is to come home to a house that’s in the state I left it, so I’m sad to get home to the usual shit show after making sure I had a little treat for everyone this AM. Happens every year so I guess “I’m not surprised, but I am disappointed.”

Sounds like the "usual shit show" is more of a problem than a little Valentine's Day disappointment.

+1 The only reason to go out to dinner on valentines day is schadenfreude at watching the tension/fakeness of other couples who went out. Occasionally you see something sweet, but most of it is just plastic posturing because some saps bought into the capitalism of it all.
