Publically humiliated and you are concerned about not getting a greeting? Sounds like your kid is going through some major $hit. Go parent them instead of clutching your pearls here.

But I do want to stick up for DH a little. I am an absurdly warm and caring person, but my kid respecting others/elders is very big for me. I can see reacting (somewhat) like that, especially if I have some emotions about the thing that happened. I am thinking maybe the thing is something that DS has been warned about, or showed poor judgment in, or something... and maybe that is why your DH reacted that way. Maybe I'm reaching Idk.

I know we all just want to say 3! We're perfect! But adults make mistakes as well as kids.

Public humiliation? Did he missed getting an easy point in a game or was it something MUCH bigger? In any case, your child is a KID, give him some space to process. When calm, talk about who he ignored while he was upset and what that person might have perceived.

I’d be annoyed - but I’d might ignore it in the moment and address it slightly later. If he keeps being a dick, he’d get some version of «  I know you are upset and I understand why, but if you are not able to extend common courtesy you need to remove yourself from the company of others. »

1 but I don’t address it in that moment. I wait until it’s the right time and explain why this behavior is unacceptable.

And your husband is an ass.

DS is a rockstar who needs grace right now from his dumb parents what parent makes a situation worse?

3. No question.

Your kid needs unconditional love and support right now, not a lecture on manners.
