Subject: Would you pull your kids for special time the rest of the week before starting a new job/no PTO?
Op here checking in after eating chocolate covered strawberries and playing war (card game) on the floor by the fire place with my girls. We're happy and my oldest couldn't believe it. She thought I was joking when I picked them up from school and then her jaw literally dropped when she saw the car packed and dog in tow. I don't break the rules much (ever?)

No. A truly stupid reason to take them out of school. You have evenings and weekends as well as Federal holidays to do things with them.

I wouldn’t care about pulling them out of school. But I wouldn’t do it unless they would also love it. Mine would not have. They loved school and their activities and would have complained to miss them.

Yes. What are they and you going to remember later - those 3 days at the cabin or three more days of school. Assuming they are easy going kids who are doing fine in school and adapt well to disruption, go enjoy your free time with your family! They grow up really fast

Definitely! Now is the time to do it before they hit the grades when it really matters. You will all cherish the sweet memories that you make together! Most teachers can give you a sense of how to keep up on the worksheets if you're concerned. They get big so fast and it passes in the blink of an eye! Bring some of their favorite toys and books, give them great memories! Have fun whatever you decide. Congrats on the new job!!!

Your kids are young. Follow your instinct. Family time is way more important. If your kids had rigid personalities or your personality were rigid this wouldn't be a question.

I just took a four day weekend because I’m on a business trip next week and will miss Presidents Day.
