Don't protest, move on. Employers are looking for drama free, low maintenance employees and you are clearly not one of those.

Questions like the ones you were asked were designed to see how you would respond even if it didn't apply to you. Obviously the question triggered and stumped you and you are upset. Rather than getting hung up, don't let these things phase you and move on.

Learn from the experience so you handle the next interviews better.

OP you may want to take a long look in the mirror and see if you can identify why they wouldn’t want to hire you. Self reflection is challenging but you may learn something.

I think all evidence points to the likelihood you may have been disqualified simply for being a douche.

But, if it makes you feel better to think it’s the billion dollar question that did it, okay.

They can ask you anything they want to as long as it’s non discriminatory. You can’t file a “protest.” That’s not a thing. If they discriminate against you (on the basis of your membership in a protected class), you can file an EEO complaint. Asking a question that’s outside the scope of the job duties is not discrimination.

What’s the job and what’s the question? It may not be as out of left field as you think.

We ask everyone the same questions in the same order. It’s actually annoying. There are some people I have read their packet and want to ask them something about it, but I can’t unless I come up with a question that is general enough for every candidate.

Move on. The agency is dodging a bullet.
