It is a nicer setup than what exists with MA ECNL and even better now with more local teams.

3 teams in northern virginia. 1 terrible team in Charlottesville.

Why doesnt GA have something on their website about this? It is strange (not just GA) that the leagues do not put things like this on their home pages

That's not a bad thing. As a parent of older and younger kid, I am all for more local games for my youngest especially. Play at the highest level possible by U15 or 16, but for U13 and 14 I can handle less driving even if it means the level of competition isn't quite as good.

I would assume that GA knows FCV is about to implode by giving VRSC they just assured keeping talent and giving the currently GA girls a home. I mean those girls were already practicing there. No changes for them.

CC is there and other coaches moving over.

The bigger question is did AB just get set up for STJ to fail…did they promote from within because they knew they know it’s a dying program.

There you have it. All you need is a “vision” and “infrastructure”! No need to show that you have strong teams or great coaches or a history of player development or anything at all! Every NCSL club in the DMV must be celebrating today knowing that their acceptance to GA is only a “vision” away. 🤣

For comparison, here’s what the GA had to say about accepting SYC:

“They have a proven record of player development that aligns with the values of the league.”

Wonder why they didn’t cite Revolution’s proven record of player development? Well, at least they have “vision”! 😂

Not at all. SYC serves a different market and will be able to fill their teams acccordingly. FCV on the other hand has a lot to lose here now.

They gave Alexandria the hard push out and metro no longer exists.

I'm aware. They were poor performing and needed replaced, which occurred and a higher performing club entered.

They have MLS Next on the boys side so far from a stretch to consider them “major” and there’s a long list of NOVA clubs with a piece of ECNL or GA.

Granted their younger teams have been very weak besides 2012.

It would be strange to kick them out and them have them back in a year later, but in a world where Revolution and SYC just got in based on nothing but vision, then its odd that Alexandria isn't good enough. Maybe they need to work on their vision and then re apply.

With Brave, BRYC needed help in order to survive in ECNL, so they did what they had to do. Vienna wanted in, so they participated in the partnership. For the league it was a no brainer since an existing club got better and more stable. One ECNL membership charter was formally transferred from BRYC to Brave.

If this were the same then FCV would be partnering with Revolution and I think that both clubs and the league would benefit. Instead, the GA is completely screwing FCV, and they now have two GA clubs in the same neighborhood as Loudoun ECNL. Loudoun County has a lot of kids, but that's one GA club too many.

FCV has had a bad few months, but they have as much money or more than Revolution so it's still too early to predict who wins in the long term. Probably not both though and not the new in improved watered down Girls Academy League.

FCV has more money? Wonder where they're spending it then. They're closing their reston gym which is newly opened. And told FCV staff and families for years that they were working on building their own facility for elite soccer.
