and this is true for most tournaments for all sports.

But Atlantic City is not somewhere you can really do kid activities. Even if you go to a "nice" casino to eat at a restaurant, people are smoking everywhere (and many are drunk). Most things are closed because it's the off season, you can't walk around to visit because it is so sketchy and gross (BTDT), it really, really sucks. Thankfully we have a decent group of parents who get along who will organize each day with outings for the kids, but that will entail driving to another town. And don't get me started on all the drunk people at hotels (even if you are staying at a non casino hotel).
Any convention center would be better. I have been to volleyball tournaments at the Baltimore Convention Center and the Gaylord convention center, both would work. Even that new complex outside of Richmond would work. But there is literally nothing remotely kid or family friendly about Atlantic City. I would rather be in downtown Baltimore than there.
cool story. don't go.

It's the same as last year for our club. One game each day and games on Monday if you make the playoffs. 1/3 of the teams make the playoffs in our age bracket (8 out of 24). This is a massive tournament with squads from all over the country and a decade worth of age groups. Every court is being used at all times and I imagine it's a nightmare to schedule it.
What is more striking is that this poster logged onto a schedule for a tournament they are NOT attending for the purpose of making a derogatory and gloating(?) comment on an anonymous message board. I hope they got the satisfaction they were looking for from their petty comment. And since they assume their child wouldn't make the last day, I'm happy for them they're not going. Bwaaaahaaaa, indeed.
I think the poster's point was that 40 minutes of futsal per day - be it three or four days of games - is not a good use of anyone's time. And the costs associated with it do nothing but make it less justifiable. We're going, and we regret it already.
Understood, and much more legit than posting about a tournament you're not going to. That said, sarcastically sorry it's not a good use of your time. Make sure your son or daughter knows that you think it's an unjustifiable waste and that they won't be going next year. How many games did you expect? Last year's results were up on the website right up until the schedule was posted yesterday.
Are you on the organizing committee? If so, maybe take a hint that kids can play more than one futsal in a day. You don't have to lube the local economy by spreading out the tournament over four days. And, if you're going to do that - accept less teams and make the divisions bigger so that it's worth the trip by giving the kids two games a day. It's a shitty tournament in an even shittier location.
