I find great things in Banana Republic. Not loving Reiss lately. Been finding cute Ted Baker stuff in Bloomingdales. My favorite DC store is Scanlon Theodore, but it's really pricey.

Go to old town and you can go in person to The Hive, J McLaughlin & Sara Campbell (don’t look at their website - looks old lady, but in person I always find some good options). Then go to athleta to stock up on basics for working out.

I'm not that poster, but it is a good, classic look. You will definitely look polished and nice for many different occassions if you're wearing a white button up, jeans, blazer, silk scarf. (I don't but see women who look great like that)

Apparently "classy" is now old and frumpy.

Totally understand those were such great spots! A few places I’ve found that still feel stylish but age appropriate Ella Rue in Georgetown has some lovely pieces, and Take Care Shop on H Street has a small but curated clothing section with a relaxed, elevated vibe. Also worth checking out Proper Topper they carry a mix of accessories and unique clothing items that feel special but wearable.

If you’re open to online options, I’ve found some surprisingly great finds through https://gmadealsandstealstoday.weebly.com/ It’s not DC-specific, but they sometimes feature smaller brands or elevated basics that work well for 50+ without leaning too trendy. Definitely worth a peek!

While this would be true if you dressed head to toe from these places I don’t rule any of them out completely. Talbots can be good for classic or basics, JJill has the occasional Anthro look alike shirt, etc. Chico’s is pretty hopeless, but I did actually get a cute pair of petite wide leg jeans there last year. Basics tend to look the same no matter where they come from.

J Jill occasionally has a very pretty sweater and they have plain jersey knit skirts that wash well.
