This is just another pay to play program - $7500- $11,000 -where an adjacent program uses the name and rent the facilities of an elite school. While the program may be fun and helpful in terms of helping a student learn about areas of finance, it also signals privilege. Most counselors recommend skipping these programs and getting a summer job while possibly taking a class online or at your local community college.I've heard good things about the Wharton summer program.

As another PP pointed out, does DC have the stats for T20 or are you shooting for T30-50. Look at Business school rankings in addition to school's overall ranking. Rutgers is ranked 40 but not sure how well their business school ranks. T20 required a different level of commitment/ECs. etc to be able to stand out. The rest don't.
OP here, DC does have GPA/SAT for T20, and we are open to T1-T50.

Get a job!
If he gets a job at a locally owned business, he would learn a tremendous amount about what it takes to run a business. If he's doing well, he could always volunteer to do something extra for them -- take over their social media, for example.
DECA is hugely popular at my kids' school. Some schools have a different version -- Future Business Leaders of America.
