Villanova has mostly white/catholic/ privileged students. Everybody wears Villanova shirts. Smart kids who have been going to private schools their entire lives. Hard to think too seriously about this school if you don’t come from money.

Not this year, at 5-7, Nova is at the bottom of the ranking, above G'town and Depaul. I agree with others that it's good school, but not for everyone. I think the Greek scene is growing because it's kind of isolated in the Main Line are, but there isn't anything close to the campus (Starbucks is a 10 min walk but that's about it).

It's not like that at all. It's a very social school, and even the suburban Philly kids stick around on weekends, for the most part.

My DD got in from the west (yes we are on this board as we used to live in DC). People know the school bc of basketball. Our concern, and maybe people can comment, is that she's worried people will go home often on the weekends and she won't have a good experience. FYI: she's not a raging party kid but wants to hang out with friends on weekends.

Strange post. Villanova is certainly a strong school in the mid Atlantic.
FWIW, Greek life is growing in strength there, unusual for a Catholic school

Yes, we toured Villanova just to see and we got the feeling it is like Notre Dame in the sense that it is a great fit for those whom it is a great fit, but it has a relatively narrow/niche population of those who vibe with it. (UMC Catholics from the mid atlantic/tri-state area, mostly.) It is a good school, selective, etc etc etc but I can see where it's not appealing for a broad selection of the population. (My publicly schooled moco kid noped the hell out of there, FWIW. Our school has only sent 4 kids there since 2019, but more due to lack of applicants/low yield, not because kids are applying and getting mass shut out.)

It’s fine that your kid has no interest but out of the handful of high-achieving kids I know who’ve graduated in the last four years (my kids are younger) one went to Nova as her first choice and the other did ED to Villanova and was crushed to be rejected. It’s definitely a desirable school and well-known in the area.
