Speaking up for ES specials teachers here - when you teach 500 kids and see them once a week for 45 minutes, expecting them to regularly update the gradebook is unreasonable. The amount of time I spend with each class over the course of a quarter is the equivalent of about two days of a classroom teacher's time. And that doesn't include absences, holidays, snow days and other interruptions.
